Coastal Needlepoint
I really enjoyed completing this needlework, or tapestry, project that a friend's relative had begun.
I find the repetitive motions of needlework quite soothing, but I also enjoy being creative on the canvas and trying different stitches for the different textures in the the image.
Of the kits I have completed (or have as a work in progress), I'm also limited sometimes to the threads that remain with the kits. This means being creative when it seems the colours don't quite match what's printed on the canvas, which is why the sea here is a mix of colours rather than the solid block the canvas dictates.
I'm not sure about the black outlines I used - with hindsight I maybe would not have outlined the sun as I did, as I think the colour itself would have been enough to make it stand out against the sky.
I also used the leftover threads and cut off canvas to make some bookmarks - I really liked how they turned out.
