Needlepoint Bookmarks
I used the leftover elements of my coastal needlework kit and some scraps of Laura Ashley material to make these bookmarks.
I'm not saying I'm a hoarder, but I am loath to throw away anything that has some crafty potential.
Once I had finished my Coastal Needlepoint project, I had some leftover canvas cut-offs and embroidery thread. The advantage of having a few leftover threads from a project like this is that the colour scheme was already decided for me, so I could just go ahead and work with what I had.
The strips of canvas I had were the perfect size to make some bookmarks, so I chose a few simple repetitive stich motifs, and set to work.
Once the stitching was done, I stitched in a ribbon at the bottom of the bookmark (these were just some ribbons I'd cut off clothes - the ones that are meant to help you keep your clothes on the hanger).
I then backed the bookmarks with scraps of some Laura Ashley material, using a blanket stitch around the edge.
Practically, they're probably too thick to use as a bookmark really, but they did make beautiful gifts.
